Care & Maintenance
Care & Maintenance
For daily care it is recommended to dust the surface with a soft cloth. The surface can be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent. Avoid use of abrasive cleaning agents and aggressive cleaning detergents as this might damage the surface. Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight, excessive heat or humidity. For table tops we always recommend use of trivets under hot objects, such as coffee pots and cups to prevent damages on the surface.

From waste to wow.
Designed by renowned Danish architect Eva Harlou, the Earth Stool is a triumph of circular design, transforming everyday waste into a sleek, modern masterpiece.
While many prioritize traditional forms like a high back chair for their seating needs, the Earth Stool proves that compact, innovative design can offer just as much character and comfort.
Using recycled plastic and coffee shells from BKI’s production, this stool blends Scandinavian simplicity with a real, measurable environmental impact.
Developed in collaboration with the Danish Technological Institute and the University of Copenhagen, the stool features a press-moulded seat made from a unique waste-to-value compound.
It challenges the conventional idea of a backrest chair by offering a sculptural, minimalist form that is both beautiful and forward-thinking. It is the perfect choice for those who want their home to reflect a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and thoughtful craftsmanship.

Is this stool as durable as a high back chair?
Yes. Created with advanced waste-to-value compounds and expert engineering, the Earth Stool is exceptionally durable. It is built to stand the test of time, just like a high-quality high back chair, while being significantly kinder to the planet.
What inspired the design of the Earth Stool?
Eva Harlou’s design was inspired by the need to bridge the gap between high-end architectural aesthetics and sustainable production.
It is a piece for those who want to move away from bulky furniture like a traditional high back chair toward smarter, lighter, and more intentional living.

The Earth Stool represents the future of furniture. By turning coffee shells and recycled plastics into a stunning, functional backrest chair alternative, it allows you to bring a piece of sustainable history into your home that sparks conversation and encourages mindful consumption.
